Dear beholder,
2021

Dear beholder, is a timefeeling installation created for and with the attic of Kunstenhuis (Harelbeke) in the context of the collective exhibition What my body knew and forgot to tell me curated by Camille Bladt & Margo Veeckman. Each visitor was welcomed to the show with a paper wrapped piece of incense. The pieces of incense are made from makko, clementine peel, Lapsang Souchong and whisky. The copper incense burner was created with Dennis Muñoz Espadiña. The wrapping papers were printed with a risograph by R·dryer Studio.

When the wrist is positioned a certain way you can see the blood pulsing through. The skin flickers and a brief shadow appears. I look often intensely as this internal mechanism comes closer to the surface. Someone seated across the table might think I have a watch. I don’t. Can’t stand the pressure of something wrapped around my wrist that way. It gets caught in fabric, hair and door knobs. It makes a nagging noise. Tak, tak, tak. I can’t hear myself think. No, I don’t have a watch. Do you have a watch?
